“Frigg’s Future”
A project team was appointed in 1985 to assess opportunities for reorganising production from Frigg.
This work was dubbed “Frigg’s Future”.1 In the 1980s, the field was expected to have been depleted of recoverable petroleum by the early 1990s. A number of studies were carried out to assess opportunities for continued operation.
Three-dimensional seismic surveys were performed in 1985-86 to secure an improved model of the reservoir. These studies showed that one drilling platform would be sufficient, rather than two. Work was initiated to upgrade the drilling rig on DP2 in order to carry out deviated drilling so that CDP1 could be shut down.
