New official name for Total

Total E&P Norway AS became the new official name in May 2003 for the merger between Total, Elf and Fina in Norway.

E&P is short for exploration and production. The parent company changed its name from TotalFinaElf to Total SA with effect from 6 May, following approval by the company’s general meeting on the same day.
