Første fase av utbyggingen skjedde på britisk side av grensen med bore- og brønnhodeplattformen CDP1, prosessplattformen TP1, flammetårnet FP og boligplattformen QP. Samtidig ble det lagt en gassrørledning fra TP1 til mottaksstasjonen St Fergus i Skottland. Kompressorplattformen MCP-01 lå midtveis langs denne rørledningen for å gi tilstrekkelig trykk på gassen.

TP1 var en prosessplattform som behandlet og tørket gassen som kom fra bore- og brønnhodeplattformen CDP1 før den ble sendt i rørledningen Frigg UK Transport (FUKA) til Skottland.

Friggtraktaten ratifiseres

Etter en rask behandling godkjente det norske Storting enstemmig "Agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the Kingdom of Norway relating to the Exploitation of the Frigg field Reservoir and the Transmission of gas therefrom to the United Kingdom" som er det offisielle navnet på Frigg traktaten!
